Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for someone who is ambitious, personable and passionately committed to true Indigenous Climate Justice to serve as its Finance Assistant. This position requires a deep understanding of the intersectional approaches of climate justice and Indigenous rights and its application to the internal operations of the organization.
This is a remote, work from home, online position with priority given to Indigenous people who live in so-called Canada.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant supports the maintenance of financial record keeping by performing bookkeeping in QuickBooks, analyzing, and summarizing account information, and supporting the maintenance of online filing of financial information in Google Drive.
This is a virtual home office position. A home office, including personal computer, cell phone or phone, and reliable internet are requirements for this position. ICA offers home office subsidies and computer/equipment purchase programs to staff for the maintenance of this office.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain an orderly filing system
Expense maintenance
Approval of expenses
Expense tracking
Bookkeeping
Expense filing
Work with the Finance Coordinator to prepare expense and budget reporting
Prepare program expense reports,
Communicate with staff, customers, and vendors as needed
Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable processing
Filing and tracking monthly expenses and revenues
Monthly Review of A/P
Assist with payment processing
Perform reconciliation of expense accounts to ensure their accuracy
Assist with monitoring variances between approved budgets and actual spending
Assist with Finance policy updates
Other clerical and administrative support as required
Participating in other ICA team functions:
Participate in weekly Staff Meetings, and other team meetings as needed
Participate in quarterly Steering Committee meetings
Participate in other all-team ICA visioning sessions
Engage in multiple SLACK channel discussions and Monday.com board collaborations
Travel for external and internal gatherings & conferences as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of bookkeeping and accrued method accounting practices
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and procedures
Experience with non-profit and charitable financial management and reporting is an asset
Knowledge of online systems, including Google Workspace, Excel, Quickbooks, PayPal, Slack, Monday.com, and Zoom
Knowledge of data management and financial data analysis
Bookkeeping and payroll training or certifications
Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and spreadsheets
Experience and understanding of Indigenous rights, climate justice and social justice movements
Member of an Indigenous community and fluency in an Indigenous language an asset

This is a full-time position at 35-hours a week, however we strive to work 30 hours per week in accordance with ICA’s 4 Day Work week policy. Office hours are typically Monday to Thursday. Some occasional evenings and weekends can be expected.
Salary
$55,000 to $68,000 annual salary depending on qualifications
